A 38-year-old man, James Richardson, has been formally charged with the murder of his mother, Janet Richardson, following a serious attack at her home in Yatton in April 2021. Mrs Richardson, who was 72 years of age, sustained significant injuries during the incident and tragically passed away in January 2024.
Avon and Somerset Police conducted a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. After reviewing the evidence, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised a charge of murder against Mr Richardson.
He appeared at Taunton Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 9 September, and is scheduled to face Bristol Crown Court on Thursday, 10 September for further proceedings.
