Somerset Writer Captivates with Unique Dress Crafted from Book Pages

Writers have many ways to mark the milestones of their careers—some destroy their first manuscripts, others hide them away. But Wells author Willow Hewett has taken a truly imaginative approach. She has designed a captivating dress made entirely from the pages of her own book, drawing global attention from publishers and readers alike.

Willow, a prolific creator of fantasy novels for young adults, recently unveiled this stunning garment composed of the first draft pages from Past My Time: The Witch’s Cult, the third installment in her popular series. This artistic celebration highlights not only her dedication to storytelling but also her flair for inventive expression.

At 29 years old, Willow balances a busy life as a mother of two, a scriptwriter, illustrator, and live event participant. Her passion for her hometown of Wells shines through both her work and her designs. She describes Wells as a “quiet, tranquil city” rich with history — a source of endless inspiration that permeates her writing and creative projects.

In fact, Wells directly influences her work. One of Willow’s books, the crime novel Chamberlain Street, is named after an actual street in Wells and evokes the city’s unique atmosphere. She’s even crafting another dress inspired by that very street.

Willow explains, “The blend of Wells’ historic charm and beautiful countryside fires my creativity. Living here for over a decade, I constantly draw upon its character to shape my stories, designs, and art.”

This fusion of literature and fashion underscores Willow Hewett’s ingenuity and deep connection to her community—a shining example of how creativity can take many forms beyond the page.
