Greenway Farm, a wedding venue on Skimmerton Lane near Bridgwater, Somerset, will now host additional workers from the Hinkley Point C nuclear power station following approval of expanded caravan facilities.
The site, known for its wedding barn accommodating up to 60 guests and an onsite restaurant, had previously secured permission in June 2023 to place ten caravans to house Hinkley Point C employees. Alongside five existing caravans rented to members of the Caravan and Motorhome Club, Somerset Council has now approved that all 15 caravans can be used exclusively for worker accommodation until at least 2031, with the potential for extension if construction timelines shift.
Located on the western portion of Greenway Farm’s grounds, these caravans are well screened from Skimmerton Lane and the nearby Shell petrol station. Since installation, the venue has also upgraded infrastructure by adding a private waste treatment plant and planting new trees to create a distinct separation between the caravans and the wedding venue.

Clive Miller Planning, representing owners Martin and Susan Felstead, notes that the site provides excellent access to the A39 Quantock Road bus service, conveniently linking workers to Hinkley Point. Demand for caravan pitches remains strong, with current availability fully booked and additional prospective tenants being turned away.
These accommodations allow Hinkley Point C workers who own caravans or motorhomes to maintain affordable living arrangements, helping reduce pressure on local rental housing. The relatively peaceful rural environment at Greenway Farm offers workers the chance to retreat away from colleagues when off duty, despite the proximity of the service station.
This planning approval was granted through delegated powers without a public committee review. Greenway Farm lies close to the Centenary Heights development, where hundreds of new homes, a primary school, and community hub are being developed. Further residential expansion nearby is expected to be considered shortly, bringing additional growth to the area around Greenway Farm.
