Somerset Village Featured in Hit Series The Crow Girl Leaves Viewers Amazed

After an 18-month wait, The Crow Girl has finally returned to our screens, reigniting viewers’ keen interest in its gripping narrative and atmospheric settings.

The series centres on DCI Jeanette Kilburn and forensic psychologist Dr Sophia Craven, who collaborate on a chilling murder investigation. Their rekindled partnership uncovers buried secrets and exposes a dangerous killer lurking within their community.

Primarily filmed in Bristol, the show showcases familiar city landmarks including Castle Park, Queen Square, and Welsh Back. Yet, the production also journeyed beyond urban scenes to capture the charm of a serene seaside village for key beach sequences.

Though adapted from Erik Axl Sund’s bestselling Swedish novels, the story’s setting has been relocated from Stockholm to the West Country, with the quintessential village of Brean in Somerset serving as a significant backdrop.

Film crews extensively utilised Brean Beach and the adjacent rocky headland of Brean Down during shooting. This tranquil village, though modest with its caravan parks and amusement park, offers a beautifully pristine seven-mile stretch of sand-one of the longest beaches in Europe-ideal for ballad strolls, sunbathing, paddling, and family holidays.

Brean Down itself is a striking 97-metre-high natural headland protruding into the sea. This iconic landmark, featured prominently in the show, provides panoramic views across the coastline.

Visitors have praised the beach’s immaculate condition, with comments such as, “This has to be the nicest beach I’ve ever been to in the UK. The beach is immaculately clean. No rubbish at all.” Another highlighted the scenic walk: “I recently visited Brean Beach and Down for a walk as part of a group, and I took my camera. I was totally blown away by the incredible views from the top of Brean Down and the incredible history at the fort. The beach was busy, and there was an ice cream van there, which was a lovely addition. Really worth a visit!”

Many guests enjoy the 1.5-mile trail across Brean Down, a natural pier offering stunning vistas-a location where film crews were notably spotted filming in late 2025.

The Crow Girl’s second series premiered on Paramount+ on 20 July 2026, following a three-month filming schedule that began in November 2025. Both series are now available to stream on Paramount+ and can be rented via Amazon Prime, offering fans a full opportunity to immerse themselves in the gripping drama and the beautiful West Country scenery it showcases.
