Somerset Village Featured in Hit Series The Crow Girl Leaves Fans Amazed

After a wait of a year and a half, the acclaimed series The Crow Girl has made its much-anticipated return to television screens, captivating audiences eager for deeper immersion in its gripping narrative.

The Crow Girl centres on DCI Jeanette Kilburn and forensic psychologist Dr Sophia Craven, who collaborate to unravel a chilling murder case. Their investigation unearths hidden secrets and reveals a dangerous killer lurking within their community.

While the majority of filming took place in Bristol-featuring iconic locations such as Castle Park, Queen Square, and Welsh Back-the production also showcased several scenes shot along the scenic Somerset coast.

Though adapted from Erik Axl Sund’s bestselling Swedish novels, the series relocates its setting from Stockholm to the West Country, with key seaside scenes filmed in the charming village of Brean, Somerset.

Film crews transformed Brean during production, capturing footage on the expansive Brean Beach and near the striking rocky headland known as Brean Down.

Brean is a quieter alternative to the more bustling Weston-super-Mare, characterised by its village atmosphere complete with caravan parks and a quaint amusement park. However, it is the beach-one of the longest stretches of sand in Europe-that truly stands out as a natural gem worth visiting.

Spanning seven miles, the beach offers ample space for dog walkers, sunbathers, paddlers, and holidaymakers alike. Dominating the skyline is Brean Down, a 97-metre-high natural pier projecting into the sea, affording breathtaking views along the coast.

Visitors have praised the location enthusiastically. One Tripadvisor reviewer described Brean Beach as “the nicest beach I’ve ever been to in the UK,” highlighting its immaculate cleanliness. Another visitor shared their experience of exploring Brean Down with a camera in hand, marveling at the “incredible views” and the area’s rich history.

As demonstrated in the show, many make the trek to the summit of Brean Down to enjoy the stunning 1.5-mile walk along the headland-where filming took place during late 2025.

The second series of The Crow Girl made its debut on Paramount+ on 20 July 2026, with filming reputedly conducted over a three-month period starting November of the previous year. Both series are now available to stream on Paramount+ and can be rented via Amazon Prime, allowing fans to catch up with the entire gripping tale.

“This has to be the nicest beach I’ve ever been to in the UK. The beach is immaculately clean. No rubbish at all.”
