Somerset Special Constable Charged with Harassment

A Somerset special constable, James Mouzoure, has been charged with harassment against a woman over a period of three months. The 35-year-old faces allegations of sending persistent texts, phone calls, and social media messages to a woman he knows between August and October 2024.

Mouzoure is scheduled to appear at Taunton Magistrates' Court on Thursday, May 8. Following his arrest, he was immediately suspended from duty pending further investigation.

Detective Superintendent Larisa Hunt, Head of the Professional Standards Department, addressed public concerns, stating: “While the charge against a Special Constable is serious, we want to reassure the community that an investigation was launched promptly after receiving the allegations in October 2024. The officer remains suspended as criminal proceedings take precedence. Alongside that, we will conduct a misconduct investigation to determine if any Standards of Professional Behaviour were breached.”
