Somerset Secure Third Straight Win with Convincing Victory Over Sussex

Somerset continued their perfect start to the T20 Vitality Blast, cruising to a seven-wicket victory over the previously unbeaten Sussex Sharks at Hove. This win marks their third consecutive triumph in the competition.

Sussex, batting first, were limited to 166 for 8. John Simpson was the standout performer for the home side, top-scoring with 58 runs off 42 balls. However, Somerset’s total never seemed under threat as they stormed through the powerplay, setting a strong foundation for their chase.

The key partnership came from Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Tom Lammonby, who added an impressive 89 runs off just 45 balls for the second wicket after an early dismissal of Will Smeed in the first over. Kohler-Cadmore led the charge with a highest score of 64, while Lammonby contributed a valuable 35.

Tom Abell remained unbeaten on 36, skillfully guiding Somerset to victory with plenty of time to spare. Somerset’s bowling attack played a crucial role in restricting Sussex, spearheaded by Matt Henry’s figures of 3 for 29. Craig Overton also impressed with the new ball, conceding only 17 runs.

With this victory, Somerset now enjoy a brief break before hosting Middlesex on Thursday, the first of five matches in nine days as they aim to maintain their winning momentum.
