Somerset Section of M5 Included in Seven Overnight Road Closures on Thursday

Transport authorities have confirmed that a portion of the M5 motorway in Somerset will be closed on Thursday night as part of a series of planned overnight road closures.

National Highways has released its schedule for major overnight closures affecting motorways and A-roads in the south-west of England. Among these, the Somerset stretch of the M5 is included with six other sections across the region set to close from the evening of Thursday, 6 August, into the early hours of Friday, 7 August.

Most of these closures will commence from 8pm and will remain in effect until the early morning hours. The seven total closures cover three motorways and several A-roads, with four separate closures scheduled for Thursday night alone.

Notably, the M48 motorway, which serves as a vital connection between England and Wales via the Severn Bridge, will also be closed overnight. Additionally, the A30, an essential route for holidaymakers travelling to Devon and Cornwall, will experience a closure during this period.
