Six talented pupils from King’s College Prep in Somerset have earned the prestigious opportunity to represent Great Britain at two upcoming international modern pentathlon competitions. Bella, James, Rufus, Rory, Pip, and senior school student Alba will compete in the challenging Biathle, Triathle, and Laser Run events, showcasing their skills on the global stage.
Their journey begins on Monday, November 4, when they travel to Turkey for the European Championships, followed by the World Championships in South Africa this December. Earning these coveted spots was no easy feat; the students qualified by ranking among the top eight athletes in their respective age groups and disciplines during rigorous national qualifying events held earlier this year.
Behind this remarkable achievement lies months of hard work, dedication, and unwavering support. From early morning swim sessions at 7 a.m. and lunchtime runs along the “King’s Loop” to after-school pentathlon practices, the pupils balanced intense training schedules alongside their academic commitments.

Pixie Foad, director of sport at King’s College Prep, expressed immense pride in their accomplishments: “Having six pupils selected to represent their country is a tremendous achievement. Their determination and commitment to reach this level have been truly inspirational.”
She added, “The competition is fierce, with these young athletes facing some of the nation’s best in their age categories. Regardless of the outcome, they are already winners. For some, this is just the beginning, as many have only recently started competing in modern pentathlon.”
The excitement among the students is palpable. “The energy within Team GB is electric,” said Foad. “Competing internationally is an unforgettable experience that will stay with them for a lifetime.”
