Six talented pupils from King’s College in Taunton, Somerset, have earned the distinguished honor of representing Great Britain in international modern pentathlon events. Bella, James, Rufus, Rory, Pip from King’s College Prep, along with senior school student Alba, will showcase their skills in Biathle, Triathle, and Laser Run competitions.
The young athletes will travel to Turkey for the European Championships starting on November 4, followed by the World Championships in South Africa this December. Their selection came after a series of rigorous qualifying events held across the UK, where only the top eight performers in each age group and discipline secured a spot on Team GB.
This achievement reflects months of dedicated training, with early-morning swim sessions beginning at 7am, lunchtime park runs known as the “King’s Loop,” and after-school pentathlon practice as part of their daily routine. These pupils have shown exceptional commitment, supported wholeheartedly by their families and the coaching staff.

Pixie Foad, Director of Sport at King’s College Prep, expressed pride in the students’ accomplishments: “Having six pupils qualify to represent their country is a tremendous achievement. Their determination and hard work have been truly inspiring to witness.”
She added, “The competition is fierce, with participants competing against some of the best young athletes nationwide. Whether they medal or not, they have already proven themselves as champions. What’s even more remarkable is that some have only recently taken up the sport, making their qualification all the more impressive.”
The pupils are eagerly anticipating the chance to compete for Team GB, bringing an electric energy to the squad. This experience promises to be a memorable milestone in their athletic journeys.
