Busy Bees Day Nursery in Weston-super-Mare has achieved a remarkable turnaround, improving its Ofsted rating from ‘Inadequate’ to ‘Good’ in less than a year. Just months after being rated ‘Inadequate’ in every category in November 2024, the nursery has successfully revitalized its services, demonstrating significant progress in the quality of care and education it provides.
Caring for children aged from three months to five years, Busy Bees has implemented a broad and well-structured curriculum. The recent Ofsted report highlights the dedication of leaders and staff in addressing previous weaknesses, acknowledging the good progress made to enhance the nursery’s standards.
Key improvements at the nursery include the introduction of a lending library, regular parent evenings, and frequent updates via the nursery’s app to keep parents informed and engaged with their child’s daily activities.

This positive transformation is credited largely to the appointment of new Early Years Manager Rebecca Quartley, who joined the team in April 2025. With 12 years of experience in early years education and supported by a team boasting over 50 years of combined expertise, Rebecca has led the nursery’s revitalization with passion and professionalism.
Rebecca Quartley, Centre Director at Busy Bees, expressed her pride in the team’s achievements: “I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished in such a short time. Our Ofsted results reflect our commitment to providing a safe and nurturing environment where children can thrive. Strengthening our relationships with parents and fostering a positive workplace culture have been central to our success. We look forward to continuing this journey to ensure every child receives the highest quality early years education.”
Parents are equally impressed. Katy Horton, mother to a son attending the nursery, shared her experience: “Since Rebecca joined Busy Bees, the nursery has greatly improved. She is approachable, honest, and has restored my confidence in the care my child receives. The staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic, delivering high-quality activities and forming strong bonds with the children. My son is happy, engaged, and making remarkable progress.”
Busy Bees Day Nursery stands as a proud example of how dedicated leadership and a committed team can bring about swift and meaningful change, fostering a brighter future for both children and their families.
