Celebrating its first anniversary, Garage 6 is a unique motorcycle café nestled on the outskirts of Wells, Somerset. Founded last summer by the husband-and-wife team Laura and Andy Bain, the café seamlessly combines their shared love of motorcycles and specialty coffee.
Since opening, Garage 6 has become more than just a stop for great brews; it has welcomed motorcycling legends like Scott Redding and hosted numerous charity events. Each summer, their popular monthly ‘Bike Nights’ draw a spectacular lineup of motorcycles, where visitors enjoy tea, cakes, and a rotating special dish while supporting vital causes such as the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and Blood Bikers – volunteer riders dedicated to transporting emergency medical supplies.
Laura and Andy emphasize the importance of giving back, noting, “The biking community is incredibly passionate about charity.” Their commitment extends beyond events, as Garage 6 started as an extension of their Quickshifter Coffee Company, launched in 2022. This venture introduced a range of motorcycle-inspired coffee blends, including the ‘Chasin’ the Racing’ blend—characterized by delicate acidity with hints of mulled wine and spices—and the ‘Garage’ blend, known for its rich dark chocolate, herbaceous, and cedar notes.

In 2024, the Café opened its doors to the public, with Laura and Andy’s daughters, aged 10 and 11, eagerly helping out and sharing their parents’ passion for motorbikes. The family recently enjoyed a memorable trip to the Isle of Man TT race, a favorite event that inspired the ‘37.7’ blend, named after the iconic 37.7-mile route and featuring smooth, sweet beans sourced from Papua New Guinea.
Garage 6 welcomes everyone—from devoted riders to curious newcomers—and prides itself on inclusivity regardless of the type of bike you ride. Laura shared, “We get a huge variety of people, girls and boys on bikes, and it doesn’t matter what you ride.”
Open seven days a week, Garage 6 invites visitors to refuel both their tanks and their spirits. Operating hours are 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays, with the kitchen closing daily at 2 p.m.
