A man from Somerset is scheduled to undergo a retrial for the alleged murder of his mother, Brenda Breed. Richard Breed, 62, had previously admitted to manslaughter but denied the charge of murder after 87-year-old Brenda was found dead in her Westonzoyland home near Bridgwater on July 22, 2025.
The retrial is set to begin on January 4, 2027, and is expected to last approximately 12 days. Avon and Somerset Police released a statement on behalf of Brenda’s family, expressing their profound grief: “There are no words to describe the pain and devastation which has rippled through our family, friends and the community from the loss of such a remarkable and much-loved woman.”
