Ross John McFadyen, a 47-year-old from Templecome, Somerset, has been sentenced to two years and three months in prison for intentionally strangling a woman and attempting to pressure her into changing her police statement. The sentencing took place at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday, June 2026, following his conviction.
The incident occurred on Sunday, July 7, 2024, at a residence in Blandford, Dorset, where McFadyen and the victim, who were known to each other, engaged in an argument that turned violent. McFadyen gripped the woman’s neck tightly, restricting her breathing and leaving visible marks and bruises, according to Dorset Police.
After the victim reported the assault, McFadyen confronted her, pressuring her to deny the strangulation during her statement to the police. His attempts to pervert the course of justice led to an additional charge.
