Somerset Man Found Dead in Helston Car, Two Women Charged

A man’s body was discovered inside a vehicle in a Helston car park, Cornwall, leading to two women being charged. The Devon and Cornwall Police responded to welfare concerns in the early hours of Wednesday, December 18, 2024, and during their investigation, found the deceased man inside a vehicle at Helston Business Park.

The deceased has been identified as Glen Manders, 66, from Somerset. Following the discovery, two women were arrested on suspicion of murder, wilful neglect, and preventing a lawful burial.

Police later confirmed that the murder and wilful neglect charges would not proceed. However, both women have been charged with the prevention of a lawful and decent burial of a dead body.

The suspects are Dinah Manders, aged 88, from Weirfield Road, Exeter, and Rosemary Manders, 53, from Upton Lane, Ilminster. They have been released on bail and are due to appear at Truro Magistrates' Court on Thursday, March 26.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police stated: “Following concerns for welfare, officers located a man in his 60s deceased inside a vehicle in Helston Business Park. Two women were arrested and have now been charged with preventing a lawful and decent burial. They will face no further action regarding murder or wilful neglect charges and are due to appear in court on March 26.”
