Each year, stars of Married at First Sight UK take to social media to voice frustrations over the so-called ‘edit’—the way producers shape footage to fit the show’s narrative, often distorting participants’ real stories. Nathan Campbell, a former contestant from the 2024 season, believes that the key to overcoming this controversy is simple: authenticity.
Nathan, 25, was paired with Hertfordshire bride Lacey Martin during the 2024 series. While they initially seemed a perfect match on screen, their relationship fell apart shortly after filming ended, according to OK! magazine. Reflecting over a year later, Nathan revealed, “We looked like roses and sunshine, but it was a different story off camera.”
Since his time on MAFS, Nathan has found new love with Abi Moores, a 2023 Love Island bombshell. Although his chapter on MAFS has closed, he has offered rare insight into the editing process that so many cast members have criticised.

“When asked if he agreed with other participants’ complaints about the editing, Nathan said, ‘Producers can only work with what they get.’ Speaking for Heart Bingo, he added, ‘It’s really important to just be your true self. Because if you’re hiding behind a mask, it’s only a matter of time before it slips.’”
Nathan also shared his thoughts on the 2025 participants. He expressed sympathy for Steven Springett, recently removed from the experiment alongside wife Neelima Patel amid accusations that he was secretly using a dating app. Nathan described Steven as “a nice guy” who struggled to connect with Neelima during their time on the show.
Other 2025 couples, like Julia-Ruth Smith and Divarni Groce Balogun, exited dramatically after revelations about their off-camera intimacy came to light, despite Julia-Ruth’s claim that she found her husband unattractive. Nathan was unconvinced by Julia-Ruth’s authenticity, remarking, “I think Julia Ruth comes off as quite fake.”
Regarding the panel of E4 experts, Nathan had high praise. “They’re all really lovely and super clever,” he said. “Paul, in particular, is incredibly intelligent. Sometimes their reactions might seem a bit over the top, but that’s just to add drama and keep the show engaging.”
Married at First Sight UK continues tonight on E4 at 9 pm.
