Somerset M5 Among Seven Roads Scheduled for Overnight Closure on Thursday

Transport authorities have confirmed that a section of the M5 in Somerset will close Thursday night as part of a series of scheduled overnight closures across the South West.

National Highways has released details of planned overnight closures for major roads, including seven motorway and A-road sections in the region set to be closed from the evening of Thursday 6 August into the early hours of Friday 7 August.

Most closures are set to begin at 8pm and are expected to remain in place until the early morning. The seven closures will affect three motorways and several A-roads, with four of these individual closures occurring on Thursday night.

Among the affected routes is the M48, which runs across the Severn Bridge connecting England and Wales. Additionally, the A30-a vital artery for holidaymakers travelling to Devon and Cornwall-will also be closed during this period.

Motorists planning journeys late on Thursday night or early Friday morning in the South West are advised to take note of these closures and plan accordingly to avoid disruption.
