Somerset Hospital Evacuated Following Early Morning Fire

A fire broke out at Weston General Hospital in Weston-super-Mare early Thursday morning, March 5, prompting the evacuation of patients and staff from nearby wards. Emergency services were alerted just after 5:30 AM and quickly responded to the incident.

Witnesses reported hearing numerous sirens throughout the morning and observed wards being evacuated. Fortunately, no patients or staff were present in the immediate area where the fire started.

Grange Road, which runs adjacent to the hospital, was temporarily closed to traffic while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze. The fire has since been brought under control, with crews ventilating the building and monitoring for any remaining hotspots. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
