Somerset Home Severely Damaged in House Fire

A house in Woolavington, Somerset, suffered significant damage after a fire broke out on Sunday afternoon, May 10. The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service responded promptly to the incident shortly after 1 p.m., dispatching crews from Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, and Street.

Upon arrival, firefighters found thick smoke pouring from the property. They deployed a hose reel jet, a positive pressure ventilation fan, and wore breathing apparatus to control and extinguish the flames.

One man was treated at the scene for mild smoke inhalation by fire personnel. The fire caused approximately 10% damage to the ground floor, while the rest of the building experienced extensive smoke damage.

Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was accidental. Fire crews successfully brought the situation under control and left the site by 3:50 p.m.
