A house in Woolavington, Somerset, suffered significant damage after a fire broke out on Sunday afternoon, May 10. The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service responded promptly to the emergency call around 1 pm, dispatching crews from Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, and Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke pouring from the property. They quickly deployed a hose reel jet, a positive pressure ventilation fan, and two breathing apparatus units to combat the flames and control smoke spread.
A man at the scene was treated by firefighters for mild smoke inhalation, ensuring his condition stabilized before emergency services left. The fire caused roughly 10% damage to the ground floor, while smoke affected the entire building.

Investigations suggest the fire was accidental in nature. Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze and cleared the area by 3:50 pm, preventing further damage and safeguarding nearby homes.
