Somerset Holiday Park Unveils Exciting £10.2 Million Upgrade Featuring Pools, Lazy River, and More

Brean Splash, one of Somerset’s busiest holiday resorts, is set to receive a thrilling transformation with a £10.2 million redevelopment plan submitted by Unity Holidays, owners of Unity Beach holiday park. The ambitious project promises an exciting new chapter for the site, with new pools, a lazy river, and a host of upgraded leisure amenities.

The proposed enhancements include the addition of an outdoor pool, a stylish lido area complete with a tots’ zone and sunbeds, and a new lazy river that will extend the existing waterpark’s attractions. Visitors will also benefit from renovated changing rooms and upgraded retail and dining options, including a gourmet burger outlet and an ice cream parlour.

To improve visitor flow and connectivity, the redevelopment features a festival-style promenade linking key attractions and pedestrian entrances. This new layout includes a fresh entrance from the eastern car park, making the resort more accessible and user-friendly.

Key highlights of the plans include:

  • Activity pavilions and dedicated spaces for archery, children’s play, and dancing water features
  • A dog agility course for four-legged visitors
  • Enhanced premium outdoor pool facilities in the lido area
  • Reconfigured parking and theme park entrance for better efficiency

Resort director Jonny Green acknowledges the forthcoming closure during construction, scheduled from December 1, 2025, to March 1, 2026, stating, “While the closure will be inconvenient for some, especially those using the pools for lessons and regular activities, this redevelopment ensures the long-term sustainability of Brean Splash and delivers an exceptional facility for both locals and holiday guests.”

Since acquiring the park, Unity Holidays has prioritized improving offerings to attract visitors to Somerset’s west coast, boosting footfall beyond Brean Splash to nearby towns such as Weston-super-Mare and Burnham. This redevelopment is also set to create local jobs and support surrounding businesses.

The planning application emphasizes that the upgrade aligns the facility size with accommodation capacity, replacing outdated amenities with a sustainable development that enhances biodiversity and contributes positively to the local economy.

Following a recent £15 million investment that introduced the Wonky Donkey pub and restaurant, plus entertainment spaces, this latest plan continues Unity Holidays’ commitment to making Unity Beach Holiday Park a leading family destination on the Somerset coast.

Somerset Council planners will review the proposal and decide on its approval in due course.
