Somerset Funeral Notices: Heartfelt Tributes Paid to 28 Cherished Locals

This week, the Somerset community has come together to pay heartfelt tributes to 28 much-loved locals in the latest compilation of funeral and death notices. These poignant messages commemorate family members and friends whose lives were treasured, some taken too soon, others after a long life well-lived.

Between April 11 and April 17, SomersetLive’s sister print titles published 27 death notices featuring individuals who lived in or had close ties to the area. Additionally, one in memoriam tribute honoured those no longer with us but forever in our hearts.

Announcing the passing of loved ones through trusted local news media is a longstanding tradition, one we are honoured to uphold. Each notice published in the newspaper and online also appears on funeral-notices.co.uk, the UK’s premier platform for death notices and memorials.

These notices will remain accessible online indefinitely, providing families and friends with a lasting tribute. The platform serves as a safe space to share memories, post tributes, upload photographs, and make charitable donations in memory of the departed.

Weekly, we dedicate an online tribute page to those we have lost in our region. To contribute your own tribute or to submit a funeral notice, contact our team at 01482 908084 or visit funeral-notices.co.uk.

Below is a selection of recent notices:

  • Robin, aged 57, passed away after a short illness. A beloved son and father, his service will be held at Haycombe Crematorium on April 28. In lieu of flowers, donations to Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary are welcome.
  • John Burbidge, aged 81, died peacefully at The Orchards Nursing Home. His funeral will be at St Andrew’s Church, Curry Rivel on April 22. Donations may be made to The Orchards Nursing Home.
  • Barbara Harvey, aged 93, formerly of East Brent, will be remembered at Sedgemoor Crematorium on April 20, with donations accepted for the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.
  • Jonathan (Jon) of Glastonbury and Wells, aged 49, remembered not only for his family bonds but also for his talents as a magician and performer. His service at St Benedict’s Church, Glastonbury, on April 27 invites guests to dress comfortably and colourfully to celebrate his vibrant personality.

These examples reflect just a portion of the personal stories and cherished memories shared this week. Each life commemorated reminds us of the enduring bonds within Somerset’s communities.

Our heartfelt condolences remain with the families and friends who mourn their loved ones. Through these tributes, their memories continue to inspire and comfort all who knew them.
