Somerset Eye Third Straight T20 Victory at Sussex

Somerset will look to continue their strong Vitality Blast start as they face Sussex Sharks tonight at the 1st Central County Ground in Hove. With two wins from as many matches, Somerset sit second in the South Group standings on eight points, just behind Sussex, who lead due to a superior run rate.

Head coach Jason Kerr expressed confidence in his side’s form and focus ahead of the encounter. “We’ve had a promising start, playing some excellent cricket,” Kerr said. “Confidence within the squad is high, and our goal is to keep the momentum going for as long as possible.”

Kerr emphasized the importance of building on their strengths. “We have a highly experienced bowling unit and a dynamic batting lineup that will only improve as players return. Maintaining our style of play will make us a tough opponent for any team,” he added.

The Sussex pitch at Hove, known for its small boundaries and good surface, promises an exciting match. Kerr noted, “Hove has the second-highest boundary count after the Cooper Associates County Ground. Sussex are definitely an improving side, so we expect a competitive and entertaining game.”

Somerset will be without key players Tom Banton (England), Sean Dickson (hand injury), and James Rew (England Lions). Tonight’s squad includes W Smeed, A Umeed, T Lammonby, T Kohler-Cadmore, T Abell, L Gregory (captain), B Green, L Goldsworthy, T Rew, C Overton, J Davey, M Henry, R Meredith, and J Leach.
