Somerset Day is back, bringing the county together to celebrate all things Somerset with a weekend full of exciting events. From lively Wurzels concerts to free cider tastings, there’s something for everyone—and much of it is free!

Here’s a glimpse of some highlight events happening Sunday, May 11, with some spilling over to create a full weekend of fun.

Kick off your day with a charity picnic at Teals Farmshop in South Cadbury. Set beneath apple trees, this family-friendly event runs 11am–3pm and supports Help for Homeless, a charity providing vital aid to those living on the streets across Somerset. Enjoy live music, a bouncy castle, basket weaving demos, BBQ, and face painting. Entry is free, with proceeds donated to the cause.
Calling all Somerset music fans! The Wurzels, the iconic band known for “Combine Harvester,” will headline the Barrel & Bloom Festival at Rich’s Cider Farm, Highbridge, from 5pm to 11:30pm. Alongside other live acts like The Additions and Harrisen Larner-Main, you can sample cider, explore arts and crafts, and even try giant Yorkshire puddings. Tickets cost £25.
In North Curry, a traditional English fete awaits from 2pm to 5pm on Church Road. This charming village fair features a helter skelter, Punch and Judy shows, horse-drawn wagon rides, face painting, a raffle, cream teas, BBQ, and more. Entry is free.
At Cedrics in Misterton, renowned for award-winning cider and apple cakes, free tastings will be available from 10am to 5pm. This family-run business, in operation since 1957, boasts over 50 Taste of the West awards, including six gold medals this year alone.
Dance the evening away at Peasey Farm, Bawdrip, with a traditional farm dance from 3pm until midnight. Enjoy folk music, a DJ set starting at 6:30pm, food, and drinks—all benefiting Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, which has completed nearly 3,000 missions in the past year. Tickets are £10 for adults, £5 for children, or £25 per family.
Ilminster hosts the annual Town Criers Festival from 10am to 2pm outside The Market House. Watch town criers from across the country compete in this historic and noisy tradition. A Junior Town Criers event also encourages young participants. Entry is free.
In Frome, the monthly farmers' market coincides with Somerset Day, featuring 20+ local producers at Boyle Cross Market Place from 9am to 1pm. You’ll find cheesemongers, coffee roasters, brewers, beekeepers, farmers, and more. Admission is free.
Step back into history at the Avalon Archaeology museum in Westhay from 10am to 4pm. Kids can strike Saxon coins, learn King Alfred-style writing, and dress up for selfies, while exploring reconstructed Saxon and Roman halls. Tickets cost £5.25 for adults, £3.50 for concessions, and free for children under five.
Finally, over in Dunster, the Buttercross Community Orchard hosts a cider competition from 4pm to 6pm. Bring your own cider or apple juice for tasting and a chance to win a prize. Entry is free with donations welcome.
