Somerset Darts Star Justin Hood’s Naked Proposal Ends in Tears and Thrown Ring

Somerset darts player Justin Hood made headlines with his remarkably unconventional marriage proposal—getting down on one knee completely naked. Known for his larger-than-life personality on the PDC circuit, Hood chose a spontaneous and intimate moment at home rather than a carefully planned romantic setting.

The 32-year-old, nicknamed “Happy Feet,” had been eagerly anticipating the arrival of his engagement ring. The package was delivered and signed for by his unsuspecting partner, Jessica. Fresh out of the shower and still unclothed, Hood seized the moment, proposing on the spot in his birthday suit.

The reaction wasn’t quite what he expected. Jessica’s subdued response left Hood overwhelmed, leading him to break down in tears. In frustration, he threw the ring at her and stormed out of the room before the situation calmed and the proposal was accepted.

Hood recounted the moment to talkSPORT: “The ring got delivered, and I just got out of the shower. I went in there naked and did it. She didn’t cry, and then I started crying because she didn’t cry. It made me mad, so I chucked the ring at her and walked out. I was like, ‘Just marry yourself.’ True story.”

He reflected on the spontaneity of the moment: “No towel, completely naked. You can’t have towels—that’s boring, it’s hiding stuff. Everything I do in life is just going with the flow. Jess likes to plan everything; I just go with whatever happens.”

Hood’s passionate and unpredictable nature has also brought him success on the darts circuit. He captivated fans with a remarkable run at the World Championship, reaching the quarter-finals as an unseeded player. Along the way, he pulled off surprising victories against favorites like Danny Noppert and Josh Rock before bowing out to Gary Anderson.

The Somerset native’s impressive performance earned him £100,000 in prize money and fueled his dreams beyond darts—including opening a Chinese restaurant. As Hood continues to follow his unique path, both on and off the oche, his story remains one of heartfelt emotion and unforgettable moments.
