Somerset Darts Star Justin Hood’s Naked Proposal Ends in Tears and Thrown Ring

Somerset darts player Justin Hood made a truly unforgettable marriage proposal—completely naked. Known for his vibrant personality on the PDC circuit, Hood surprised his now-wife Jessica by popping the question without any clothes on, at home. The unusual moment, reported by the Daily Star, turned emotional in an unexpected way.

Nicknamed ‘Happy Feet’, Hood met Jessica while working night shifts as a hotel porter. The 32-year-old darts star had been eagerly anticipating the delivery of his engagement ring but didn’t expect Jessica to be the one to sign for it. Just after stepping out of the shower, Hood was handed the package by Jessica, who had no idea what it contained.

Seizing the moment, Hood immediately dropped to one knee—completely naked. However, Jessica’s muted response left him devastated. When she didn’t cry, Hood broke down in tears himself, frustration rising, before throwing the ring at her and storming out of the room.

He later shared with talkSPORT, “The ring got delivered and I just got out of the shower. I went in there naked and did it. She didn’t cry, so I started crying because she didn’t cry. It made me mad, so I chucked the ring at her and walked out. I said, ‘Just marry yourself.’ True story.”

Hood added, “No towel, completely naked. You can’t have towels—that’s boring, it hides stuff. Everything I do in life is just going with the flow. Jess likes to plan everything; I just go with whatever happens.”

Justin Hood has won over darts fans nationwide with his spirited performances. Recently reaching the quarter-finals of the World Championship as an unseeded player, Hood secured surprise victories over notable competitors like Danny Noppert and Josh Rock before falling to Gary Anderson. His remarkable run earned him £100,000 in prize money at Alexandra Palace. Despite his sporting success, Hood remains grounded and focused on his future ambitions, including the dream of opening a Chinese restaurant.
