Somerset Daredevil Becomes First to Ski-BASE Jump Off Mount Snowdon

Tim Howell, a seasoned daredevil from Somerset, has made history by becoming the first person to ski-BASE jump off Mount Snowdon. On January 18, the 36-year-old adventurer soared off the 1,085-metre peak in Gwynedd, North Wales, combining skiing and BASE jumping in an unprecedented feat.

With over 15 years of BASE jumping experience, Tim has long dreamed of this moment. “This jump had been lined up for years, but we waited for the ideal snow and wind conditions,” he explained. Despite the foggy appearance, the team ensured there was a clear line of sight to the landing zone before making the leap.

Tim’s achievement holds additional significance – not only is this the first ski-BASE jump off Mount Snowdon, but Tim also became the first British person to perform a ski-BASE jump in the UK eight years ago. “This was the first one in Wales,” he noted proudly.

Success hinged on building up speed for a safe parachute deployment, as the drop from the cliff is relatively short. Tim, who splits his time between Martock, Somerset, and Geneva, Switzerland, described his unique profession with humor: “I just climb up stuff and jump off them for a living, haha.”
