Victoria Lee, 37, a dairy farmer from Mark, Somerset, created a unique and heartfelt moment on her wedding day by riding her favourite cow, a Swiss breed named ‘White Chocolate Button’, into the Holy Cross Church for her ceremony. Arriving initially on a tractor, Victoria’s final approach was atop her beloved cow, fulfilling a dream she had nurtured since she was ten years old.
“It was what I’d always dreamt of – it was truly incredible,” Victoria reflected. “Even though it’s pretty unheard of, people ride horses and there is no difference to riding a cow. White Chocolate Button absolutely loved it – she was such a good girl and just took it in her stride.”
Expressing the deep bond she shares with her animals, Victoria said, “It wouldn’t have been my wedding if a cow wasn’t there. Our cows are our family and our life.”

The mother-of-four’s entrance was complemented by White Chocolate Button wearing a specially made flower crown, accompanied by bridesmaids and family members. Following the ceremony, while guests proceeded to the nearby reception, Victoria and her new husband Mike Lee, 40, returned to their farm to milk the cows, demonstrating their commitment and connection to their farming life.
“We were on such a tight schedule because we had to be back at the farm. I had so much to do that I only got one hour’s sleep before the wedding. I was even up at 4:30am on my wedding day to start milking before the ceremony,” Victoria shared.
White Chocolate Button is no stranger to attention, having participated in various farm festivities where she has been dressed up, including as a reindeer. Victoria revealed, “I’ve never ridden her before, though I tried to ride my other cow, Basil, but she didn’t like it and told us to go away. White Chocolate Button will do anything: she follows you around the fields and yard; she even comes into the house and eats bread.”
Victoria’s lifelong relationship with cows is profound. “I used to ride my childhood cow, Sadie, to the village shop to get sweets and pick up my grandad’s newspapers,” she recalled. Dressing as an inflatable cow during her hen do further showed her affection for her farming roots.
Acknowledging the challenges she and Mike faced in planning the wedding while managing their farm, Victoria noted, “It’s a tough time for farmers out there, I just wanted to make people smile. It took us 10 years. But it has been worth it. My kids are even hoping Jeremy Clarkson sees this.”
