A Conservative councillor in Somerset has been suspended by her party after it emerged she was a member of a white supremacist dating website. Lillith Osborn, known locally as Lilli, has served on Glastonbury Town Council since June 2022, representing the St. John’s ward. She also ran as a Conservative candidate in a Somerset Council by-election in October 2025, finishing third.
Osborn’s name appeared in an investigation by The Observer after a hacker exposed databases from WhiteDate, a whites-only dating platform recently taken offline. WhiteDate, along with similarly exclusive sites WhiteChild and WhiteDeal, was shut down by German hacker Martha Root during a security conference in December 2025. Root exploited security vulnerabilities to download and publicly share user data, revealing that roughly 450 UK users—including far-right activists and former members of BNP, Patriotic Alternative, and Britain First—had active profiles.
Osborn joined WhiteDate in 2020, prior to her election, and described her political alignment as “pro-white” while expressing interest in “indigenous European spirituality” on her profile. Currently a domiciliary care worker and formerly a teacher for nearly three decades, Osborn told The Observer she discovered WhiteDate while researching modern paganism and only used the site “once or twice.” She also stated she has mixed-race children and claimed her “pro-white” label was intended to gain trust on the platform.

Following the revelations, the Conservative Party suspended Osborn pending a formal internal investigation, meaning she will sit as an independent councillor for the time being. The party spokesperson emphasized that their complaint procedures are robust and confidential.
Local MP Sarah Dyke, a Liberal Democrat, publicly condemned Osborn and called for her resignation. Speaking on social media, Dyke described Osborn’s views as “utterly vile” and insisted there is no place for racism or bigotry in Glastonbury or beyond. She praised the town’s inclusive and diverse community, affirming that Osborn’s opinions are contrary to the values of the area.
The Glastonbury and Somerton Conservative branch has yet to comment on the matter.
