Somerset Council has announced significant changes to its Garden Waste collection service affecting approximately 53,000 subscribers. Due to a substantial increase in garden waste subscriptions over the past five years, existing collection routes have reached capacity, prompting a necessary revision to maintain operational efficiency.
Subscribers should expect to receive communication about changes to their collection days via email or postal letter, depending on the contact information provided during subscription. These adjustments are set to take effect from the week beginning 24 November 2025.
Updated collection calendars will also be available online starting 24 November 2025, enabling residents to verify their new collection schedules at www.somerset.gov.uk/collection-days.
Cllr Richard Wilkins, Executive Member for Transport and Waste Services, stated: “The growth in our Garden Waste subscription service means we need to realign collection schedules to ensure efficient and sustainable operations. We thank residents for their understanding and encourage everyone to check their revised collection dates through the notifications or online.”
