Currently, the Met Office forecasts a changeable week ahead, with spells of rain and showers affecting various parts of the UK. Despite this, drier and brighter intervals are expected to develop, particularly across southern areas. The long-range outlook points to some periods of settled weather and reasonable dryness, along with the possibility of warm days.
According to GFS data, western and southern England, including Somerset, may see temperatures reaching approximately 27C from Tuesday to Wednesday. However, as the forecast is several days away, these figures are subject to change.

This anticipated warmth would follow a typically unsettled September pattern, with rain and strong winds predicted at times during the week. The Met Office’s forecast for the period from 13 to 22 September explains that while changeable weather with intermittent showers from the North Atlantic will persist-especially in northern and western UK regions where strong winds are possible-southern areas can expect more stable, drier conditions.
Later in the month, high pressure systems might establish themselves around the UK, potentially leading to more widespread settled weather, particularly away from the far north. Overall temperatures are expected to be near average for the period, but occasional warm days and cooler nights may occur.
At present, the Met Office is not anticipating a prolonged heatwave, though current guidance allows for the possibility of notably warm days next week.
