Starting now and running through Wednesday, December 24, the X10 bus route in North Somerset is completely free for all passengers. This festive season, anyone can hop on the X10, which services key stops including Yatton Station, Clevedon, Portishead, Cribbs Causeway, Filton College, and Southmead Hospital, without paying a fare.
Hugh Malyan, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at North Somerset Council, shared, “Christmas is about spending time with loved ones. Offering free travel this season allows people to visit family and friends across Clevedon, Portishead, Bristol, and beyond via Yatton Station without worrying about ticket costs, parking fees, or congestion.”
This initiative encourages residents and visitors alike to explore local shops, festive markets, and community highlights, making the holidays more enjoyable and accessible.

The free travel offer forms part of the council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP), focused on keeping fares affordable, upgrading 150 bus stops and shelters, and developing new transport hubs.
Council Leader Cllr Mike Bell added, “Reliable bus services matter to everyone. Through BSIP, we’re working hard to enhance bus travel standards across the region. Our aim is to keep North Somerset accessible and well-connected for all users today and into the future.”
In line with the BSIP, improvements began last month on a key junction along the A38, involving lane closures expected until May. Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport Hannah Young explained, “Following feedback from residents and passengers, these upgrades will boost capacity for general traffic and help ease congestion near the airport. With 13 to 16 buses passing through Lime Kiln junction every hour and more journeys expected, this project will improve bus journey times and service reliability by allowing buses to bypass traffic.”
