Dirtbikexpress, a leading retailer in off-road sports gear, has entered a new chapter under the ownership of Minehead businessman and motocross enthusiast Tom Radburn. With support from a loan provided by Allica Bank, Tom’s acquisition marks a significant milestone for the company, which specializes in motocross, mountain biking, and adventure riding equipment.
A third-generation rider with strong local ties, Tom has long been connected to Dirtbikexpress, previously supplying the retailer and fostering a close working relationship with founder Steven Dyer. Seizing the opportunity to take ownership, Tom said, “This business has a fantastic reputation and a dedicated customer base both locally and nationwide. Growing up surrounded by bikes in this area, it felt like the perfect fit—combining my passion with purpose. I’m committed to keeping Dirtbikexpress firmly rooted in Minehead while expanding its reach as a national leader.”
Dirtbikexpress offers a comprehensive selection of off-road gear, from helmets and protective bodywear to wheelsets and exhaust systems. Its reputation has made it a trusted destination for enthusiasts throughout the UK.

Since taking the helm, Tom has already implemented strategic changes geared toward growth, including a revamped website and partnerships with top brands like Alpinestars and Fox. He plans to scale the business nationally without compromising its commitment to local employment.
“The South West boasts a vibrant riding scene, and we want to nurture that community while growing our national presence through online channels and strategic collaborations,” Tom added. “Our goal is to become the UK’s foremost destination for off-road enthusiasts.”
Tom also emphasized the challenges of securing financing for acquisitions. After over 15 years with his high street bank, he found they couldn’t offer the flexibility required. “Allica Bank understood my vision and moved quickly to support the acquisition and growth plans,” he said.
Tom Hine, relationship manager at Allica Bank, commented, “We’re proud to support Tom’s acquisition of Dirtbikexpress. His local roots, technical expertise, and entrepreneurial spirit make him ideal to lead the business forward. Supporting businesses that create jobs and strengthen communities is at the heart of Allica’s mission.”
