Somerset Big Brother Star Faces Backlash Over ‘Gross’ Spoon-Licking Habit

Recent episodes of ITV’s Big Brother have sparked strong reactions from viewers following a peculiar habit displayed by contestant Cameron, a farmer from Somerset. During the first five minutes of the episode aired on Wednesday, November 5, Cameron was seen preparing breakfast — a scene that quickly drew criticism on social media.

Viewers noticed Cameron tasting beans by licking the spoon and then placing it back into the pan to continue stirring, a behavior often referred to as “double dipping.” This was not the first time the habit was observed, as fans also caught it on the previous night’s episode.

Despite Cameron expressing his intention to contribute more to the household by offering to prepare breakfast for fellow housemate Teja’s 19th birthday, many viewers found his cooking style off-putting. Reactions flooded platforms like X (formerly Twitter), with some fans calling for him to be banned from cooking in the Big Brother house.

“I’m screaming at the TV… Nooooooo… Cameron should be banned from cooking,” one viewer wrote. Another said, “I’d be eating cereal every morning. No way I’m eating that breakfast made by Cameron.” Some simply demanded, “EWWWW GET CAMERON OUT!” and “CAMERON STOP IT.”

On the other hand, some viewers came to Cameron’s defense, noting that he was seen wiping his nose with a tissue during the cooking scene. Supporters argued that the clip was edited to paint Cameron in a negative light and that others in the house, such as Tate and Richard, would have voiced concerns if his cooking was truly unhygienic.

One defender commented, “They’re editing Cameron to look like a manky b***** just because he has a runny nose and wiped it. They probably didn’t show him washing his hands or other moments.” Another added, “It wasn’t for Richard or Tate since they didn’t complain, plus Cameron is young and learning the dos and don’ts. This is about education, not judgment.”

The official Big Brother social media account shared the clip, reigniting the debate among fans. The show’s popularity continues strong as it airs nightly at 9 pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
