Connor Leat, a bartender from Tatworth near Chard, Somerset, won an astonishing £80,000 Aston Martin DBX in an online competition run by Best of the Best (BOTB). However, there was a catch—Connor only holds a provisional driving licence and couldn’t legally take ownership of the supercar.
When Connor was presented with the sleek DBX by BOTB host Christian Williams, he had to confess his predicament. Though overjoyed, Connor opted to take the cash alternative prize instead, planning to use it toward buying his first car once he passes his driving test.
A lifelong car enthusiast, Connor said he was left “speechless” upon learning he had won the iconic Aston Martin. “I saw videos of other people winning cars and houses and thought I’d give it a shot. Then suddenly, Christian was standing there with this car—it’s absolutely crazy,” he said.

For Connor, owning an Aston Martin has been a childhood dream. “I’ve been into cars my whole life. This one is just a wicked bit of kit,” he added.
Despite the excitement, he admitted the awkward reality: “As nice as the car is, I don’t have a full licence yet. I was hoping I’d have passed before winning a new car.”
Christian Williams praised Connor’s sensible approach: “Seeing him walk up to the Aston Martin that’s been his dream since childhood was brilliant. The funny part is, he can’t properly drive it yet, making the whole thing surreal. The DBX is powerful, luxurious, and packed with personality. Connor’s plan to use the money wisely, to get on the road properly and save for a house, shows great maturity.”
BOTB regularly hosts online competitions offering the chance to win dream cars and other prizes, providing hopeful participants like Connor an exciting shot at their aspirations.
