Somerset Bartender Wins £80k Aston Martin but Can’t Drive It Yet

Connor Leat, a bartender from Tatworth near Chard in Somerset, had his dream come true when he won an £80,000 Aston Martin DBX in an online competition. However, there was one catch — Connor only holds a provisional driving licence, so he couldn’t accept the car.

The competition, run by Best of the Best (BOTB), presented Connor with the stunning supercar, but he had to admit that he hadn’t yet passed his driving test. Faced with this reality, Connor chose the cash alternative, planning to use the money to buy his first car once he gets his full licence.

A lifelong car enthusiast, Connor said the victory left him “speechless.” He shared, “I saw videos of other winners and thought I’d try my luck. Then, suddenly, Christian Williams from BOTB was standing in front of me with the car — it was absolutely surreal.”

Since childhood, Connor had dreamed of owning an Aston Martin, and the DBX perfectly matched his passion. “This car is an incredible machine,” he said. “It’s powerful, luxurious, and exactly what I’ve always wanted.”

Though excited, Connor acknowledged the timing wasn’t ideal. “I was hoping to have passed my driving test by now, but as it stands, I can’t drive the car yet,” he explained.

He has made sensible plans for the cash prize — to invest in a car he can drive and save towards buying a house. Christian Williams from BOTB commented on the situation: “Seeing Connor face his dream car, knowing he can’t yet drive it, made the moment even more memorable. The DBX is a fantastic vehicle, and Connor has a wise plan for his prize money, setting himself up well for the future.”

BOTB regularly runs online competitions offering extraordinary prizes like luxury cars, giving hopefuls like Connor a chance at their dream vehicles — even if the timing isn’t quite perfect.
