Somerset Bartender Wins £80,000 Aston Martin but Can’t Drive It Yet

Connor Leat, a bartender from Tatworth near Chard in Somerset, hit the jackpot by winning an £80,000 Aston Martin DBX in an online competition. However, there was a catch—Connor only holds a provisional driving licence and isn’t yet able to drive his dream supercar.

The competition, run by Best of the Best (BOTB), saw presenter Christian Williams surprise Connor with the stunning vehicle. But faced with his current licence status, Connor had to opt for the cash alternative instead of the car. He plans to use the money to buy his first car once he passes his test, as well as saving towards a future home.

“I was absolutely speechless when I found out I’d won,” Connor shared. “I’ve been passionate about cars all my life, and owning an Aston Martin has always been a dream. Seeing the actual car in front of me was crazy.”

Despite the excitement, Connor admitted the reality of the situation: “I was hoping to have my full licence by now and be ready to drive it, but it just wasn’t meant to be this time.”

Christian Williams, BOTB presenter, reflected on the unique moment: “Connor is a true car enthusiast, so watching him approach the Aston Martin—his childhood dream—was fantastic. The twist, of course, was that he can’t drive it yet. That made the win even more surreal. The DBX itself is an amazing car, blending power, luxury, and personality.”

He added, “Connor’s plan to put the prize money towards passing his test and eventually securing a house is very sensible and shows he’s thinking long-term.”

Best of the Best is known for its weekly online competitions that give people the chance to win their dream cars and other prizes, turning dreams into reality—even if sometimes the timing isn’t perfect.
