The much-anticipated day has arrived for carnival enthusiasts across Somerset as the world-renowned Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival lights up the night on the first Saturday of November. This spectacular event kicks off the Somerset carnival circuit and sets the tone for an exciting series of illuminated processionals throughout the region.
The Somerset carnival circuit unfolds as follows: Bridgwater leads the way on November 2nd (first Saturday), followed by Burnham-on-Sea on the Monday after, Weston-super-Mare on the following Friday, North Petherton on the second Saturday, Shepton Mallet midweek on Wednesday, Wells on the next Friday, and finally culminating with the Glastonbury procession on the third Saturday of November.
Beyond the circuit events, earlier in the year, vibrant carnival carts and participants brought life and color to numerous other towns in and around Somerset, including Wellington, Ilminster, Chard, Taunton, Frome, Wincanton, Castle Cary, and areas of East Devon such as Seaton, Colyton, and Sidmouth.
