A fire broke out in a third-floor flat on Gladstone Street, Taunton, causing significant smoke damage and partial fire damage to a bedroom. The incident occurred around 4:20 pm on Thursday, December 4. Two fire engines from Taunton Fire Station responded promptly to the scene.
Firefighters equipped with two breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet, a 10.5-meter ladder, and a positive pressure ventilation fan successfully extinguished the blaze. The affected bedroom was completely enveloped in smoke, sustaining 100% smoke damage and 10% fire damage. Additionally, smoke caused damage to approximately 25% of the rest of the flat.
The fire was officially determined to be accidental. The crews left the scene shortly before 7 pm after ensuring the fire was fully contained.
