Skydiving Company Plans to Resume Operations Following Fatal Parachute Malfunction

Skydive Buzz, the skydiving company involved in a tragic incident last week where two skydivers died after their parachutes failed to deploy, has announced plans to resume jumping activities this weekend.

On Friday, June 13, Belinda Taylor, a 48-year-old mother of four from Totnes, and Adam Harrison, a 30-year-old instructor from Bournemouth, lost their lives near Dunkeswell Aerodrome, Honiton, after falling from a plane at 15,000 feet. Witnesses reported that neither parachute opened, resulting in the fatal accident.

In a statement posted on Facebook and reported by Devon Live, Skydive Buzz confirmed that while the investigation into the incident is ongoing, authorities have raised no objections to resuming normal skydiving operations. The company explained they had paused activity briefly to allow staff time to process the tragedy and support one another.

The team met on Wednesday, June 18, to arrange the restart of skydiving activities scheduled for the coming weekend. The post expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of support, acknowledging that kind messages have greatly helped their grieving and working team. They also requested patience with enquiries, reminding the public that their small staff is managing grief alongside their responsibilities.

A charity skydive is set to take place Saturday at 10 a.m., marking the first such event since the fatal accident. However, FearFree, a domestic abuse charity, has postponed all its skydiving events until the investigation concludes, citing respect for those affected by the tragedy. Similarly, Devon in Sight and Children’s Hospice South West have canceled their upcoming planned jumps.

The community continues to honor the memories of Belinda Taylor and Adam Harrison with heartfelt tributes. Adam, who had been with Skydive Buzz since September 2021, was remembered fondly by a friend for his infectious joy and warmth that touched everyone he met. The friend fondly recalled Adam’s ability to connect, whether with close friends or strangers sharing a late-night kebab.

Belinda’s boyfriend, Scott Armstrong, shared in an interview with the Mirror how much she meant to him and their circle, describing her as the center of his universe—kind, giving, and adventurous. He recounted the moment he witnessed the accident unfold and his deep grief after finding Belinda and Adam. Scott spoke of her passion for adrenaline and adventure, noting her love for kayaking and other thrill-seeking activities.
