Sir Rod Stewart to Reunite with Ronnie Wood at Glastonbury Festival

Sir Rod Stewart has confirmed that he will reunite with his former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood for his upcoming set at the Glastonbury Festival. The 80-year-old rock icon is slated to perform during the highly sought-after tea-time legends slot at this year’s event, which is headlined by The 1975, Neil Young, and Olivia Rodrigo.

Faces, known for classics like “Stay With Me,” originally formed in 1969 after the Small Faces disbanded. The band featured Ronnie Lane on bass, Ian McLagan on keyboards, Kenney Jones on drums, Ronnie Wood on guitar, and Rod Stewart as lead vocalist.

Discussing his relationship with members of The Rolling Stones and other musicians during That Peter Crouch Podcast, Stewart revealed, “I don’t keep in touch with many, but I’ve been in contact with Woody a lot recently because we’re preparing to perform together at Glastonbury.”

On his friendships, he joked, “Elton and I connect sometimes on birthdays, but it’s nothing like it used to be—I think because Elton and Woody don’t drink anymore, and I still do. They avoid me as a bad influence!”

Reflecting on past Glastonbury experiences, Stewart shared, “I performed there in 2002, but this time it’s on the legend stage. Originally, I was booked for an hour and 15 minutes, but I asked if I could add 15 more minutes. I typically play over two hours every night, so it feels just right.”

Faces released four studio albums and toured extensively before disbanding in 1975, after which Stewart launched a successful solo career. Earlier this week, the veteran artist was honored with a prestigious lifetime achievement award by five of his children at the American Music Awards (AMAs).

Among Stewart’s iconic solo hits are “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?”, “Every Beat of My Heart”, and “Maggie May.” While he has no plans to retire in 2024, he has announced that his large-scale European and North American tours will conclude in 2025, as he shifts focus toward performing in more intimate venues.

His most recent album, a collaboration with Jools Holland released in February 2024, debuted at number one on the UK charts, underscoring his enduring appeal.
