Sir David Beckham Honoured with Knighthood at Windsor Castle

David Beckham, the celebrated Manchester United and England footballer, was officially knighted at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career. This prestigious honour recognizes not only his exceptional achievements on the football field but also his dedicated charitable work.

Beckham, 50, was named in the King’s Birthday Honours list for his remarkable contributions, including playing a pivotal role in securing the 2012 London Olympics. He has also been a committed UNICEF ambassador for over two decades and has actively collaborated with King Charles and The King’s Foundation since 2024.

With an impressive 115 international caps and having captained England in 59 matches, Beckham’s influence on the sport is undeniable. Upon hearing the news of his knighthood in June, he expressed heartfelt gratitude. Speaking to PA, he shared, “Growing up in east London with parents and grandparents who were so patriotic and proud to be British, I never could have imagined receiving such a truly humbling honour.”

The emotional moment was shared with his family, with Beckham adding, “It will take some time for this news to fully sink in. I’m immensely proud and grateful.”

Following the ceremony, Beckham’s wife, former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, received the title of ‘Lady Beckham.’ The couple, married since 1999, have four children: Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper.
