Dorset Police are actively searching for Jason Evans, a 32-year-old man who escaped from lawful custody in Poole. The escape occurred at approximately 5:28 pm on Thursday, April 2, when Evans fled from a privately-operated prisoner transport vehicle on Poole Road.
Evans had appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court that day, charged with assault and other offenses. After being remanded in custody, he was being transported to another facility when he made his escape. Despite detailed searches supported by a police helicopter, Evans remains at large.
He is described as white, around 5 feet 8 inches tall, of medium build, with ginger hair. At the time of his escape, he was wearing grey clothing without shoes and still had a handcuff on one wrist.

Superintendent Ross Graham of Dorset Police emphasized the seriousness of the search: “We are conducting extensive inquiries to locate Jason Evans and return him safely to custody. He may have changed his clothing, so we urge the public to stay vigilant. If you see anyone matching this description acting suspiciously, do not approach them. Instead, contact the emergency services immediately.”
Authorities have increased their presence in the area and encourage anyone with information to come forward. Residents are advised not to confront Evans but to call 999 immediately if they spot him.
