A serious three-vehicle collision occurred on the A30 near Sherborne, Dorset, yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, March 18), resulting in two people sustaining serious injuries and a third requiring medical treatment.
The crash, involving two cars and a van, happened just after 2:50 pm near the junction with A352 Horsecastle Lane. The vehicles involved were identified as a grey Mercedes E-Class, a white Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, and a red Mazda 3.
The man and woman in their 80s who were inside the red Mazda suffered serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital by emergency services. The driver of the grey Mercedes E-Class, a man in his 70s, received treatment for injuries that are not believed to be serious.

Due to the severity of the crash, the A30 Yeovil Road was closed between Sheeplands Lane and the local petrol station to allow emergency crews to respond and conduct a detailed investigation. The road closure lasted throughout the afternoon and evening.
Dorset Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and have appealed to any witnesses or those with dashcam footage to come forward. Police Constable James Hazell of the Roads Policing Team expressed gratitude for motorists’ patience during the disruption and emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation.
In addition to police, Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service deployed crews from Sherborne and Yeovil, who used hydraulic rescue equipment to extricate two casualties from one vehicle safely.
