A serious three-vehicle collision on the A30 near Sherborne left two elderly individuals seriously injured and a third person with minor injuries yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, March 18).
The accident, which occurred around 2:50 pm near the junction with A352 Horsecastle Lane, involved a grey Mercedes E-class, a white Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, and a red Mazda 3. The occupants of the Mazda—a man and a woman in their 80s—sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital for treatment. The driver of the Mercedes E-class, a man in his 70s, was also injured but his condition was not considered serious.
Dorset Police closed the A30 Yeovil Road between Sheeplands Lane and the local petrol station as emergency services attended the scene. Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service deployed crews from Sherborne and Yeovil who used hydraulic rescue equipment to safely extract two casualties from one vehicle.

Police Constable James Hazell of the Roads Policing Team emphasized the ongoing investigation and urged any witnesses or drivers with relevant dashcam footage to come forward. He also thanked motorists for their patience during the lengthy road closure required for emergency response and accident investigation.
