Shepton Mallet’s annual carnival was briefly interrupted on the evening of Wednesday, November 12, after a performer fell from a cart during the parade. The incident occurred on the ‘Magic Garden’ cart, part of The Marketeers Carnival Club’s entry.
Emergency services quickly responded, providing on-site treatment before transporting the injured performer to a local hospital. Fortunately, the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing, and the performer is now recovering.
The Marketeers Carnival Club expressed gratitude through a social media statement, thanking those who helped during the emergency. Shepton Mallet Carnival also released an official statement expressing their best wishes for the performer’s speedy recovery and appreciation for the public’s understanding while the incident was managed.

The procession was halted for approximately one hour, resuming around 9:30 pm and concluding at about 11:30 pm. Avon and Somerset Police confirmed their involvement, noting that officers and St John’s Ambulance provided immediate first aid. They also thanked the public and participants for their patience during the temporary stoppage.
