Shepton Mallet Carnival 2025: Full Results and Procession Pause After Incident

The Shepton Mallet Carnival 2025 showcased spectacular talent as both Ramblers and Huckyduck Carnival Clubs extended their perfect records, each taking their fifth consecutive victory at the event. These wins mirror their successes at Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Weston-super-Mare, and North Petherton, positioning them to share the county cup with two carnivals remaining.

The evening’s festivities, however, were interrupted when a participant fell from one of the carnival carts, causing the procession to pause temporarily. Although the exact cart has not been officially confirmed, social media speculation points to the Marketeers CC’s cart titled The Magic Garden. The community responded with widespread support for the club.

Avon and Somerset Police confirmed the incident, stating that at approximately 8:40 pm, a carnival participant fell from a cart. First aid was promptly administered by both police officers and St John’s Ambulance volunteers before the individual was transported to hospital. Authorities confirmed that their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening or permanently disabling.

The procession resumed around 9:30 pm following the interruption, with police thanking the public and carnival participants for their patience.

In the competition results, Ramblers CC triumphed in the open feature class with their miners strike-themed cart ‘1912 - All Out.’ Renegades CC and Emerald City took second place, followed by Masqueraders CC with ‘Inventors (Tick, Tick, Boom!)’ in third, and Gremlins CC with ‘Morning of the Dragon’ in fourth.

Mendip Vale CC’s ‘Starlight’ secured first place in the local feature class, surpassing Globe CC’s ‘Jesters Haunt’ and Wick CC’s ‘Circus Town.’

The local tableaux prize was claimed by Huckyduck CC’s ‘Scarecrow Partea,’ with King William CC’s ‘Welcome to the Black Parade’ finishing second. Pentathlon CC won the open tableaux category with ‘Carnival of Shadows,’ while Wills CC’s ‘HMS Titanic’ and Oasis CC’s ‘Countylife’ took second and third respectively.

Additional awards highlighted Newmarket CC’s ‘Ghost Chickens’ as best comic feature and Rubalo JCC’s ‘The Spirit of Christmas’ as best juvenile feature.
