Devon and Cornwall Police have launched an investigation following reports that a sheep was chased off a cliff near Newquay, Cornwall, on Sunday, 27 July.
According to a police statement, officers received a report about a sheep being driven over a cliff edge in the Polly Joke area. During the incident, one of the individuals involved allegedly became aggressive when confronted by a member of the public. The police confirmed that enquiries into the matter are ongoing.
The incident gained attention after a social media post claimed a man watched his two young sons chase a ewe off the cliff. The post also stated that when bystanders objected, the man threatened to throw them off the cliff as well. This alarming account was reported by Cornwall Live.

The person who posted the claim noted seeing the man later near Trevornick Holiday Park; however, the park management stated they do not believe the family was staying there and that the individuals seen were not wearing wristbands typical of guests. They also mentioned having spoken with the farmer involved, expressing concern about the sheep’s welfare. With a bus stop located just meters from where the incident occurred, it is possible the family used public transport.
Devon and Cornwall Police continue to investigate the incident as the community awaits further updates.
