Police have issued a warning to the public involved in the search for missing teenager George, urging them not to place themselves in danger. George, 18, was last seen around 8.20pm on Thursday, 17 September in the Woodlands Road area near the beach in Portishead.
Avon and Somerset Police have described George as possibly appearing disorientated and confused. In response to the numerous members of the public who have volunteered to help, officers expressed their gratitude but emphasised the importance of personal safety.
Detective Chief Inspector James Wasiak said: “We are grateful to members of the public who have been assisting in the search for George. However, we strongly advise against taking risks such as crossing muddy or rocky terrain or climbing at heights. Our specialist team of qualified search experts are better equipped to navigate these challenging areas safely.”

The police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity around the time George went missing, especially along the beach. “We believe there is a man who was in the area and may have seen or spoken to George; we would like to speak with him as soon as possible,” the force stated.
George is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, with short brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black jogging bottoms, and orange and grey shoes. He has connections to both Clevedon and Portishead and had been travelling on foot when he disappeared.
Officers continue to maintain contact with George’s family, who are understandably anxious and eager for his safe return.
Anyone who spots George is urged to call 999 immediately, quoting reference number 5226267576. Alternatively, those with other information can contact the police on 101.
