Sean Dickson Powers Somerset to Thrilling T20 Blast Finals Day Victory Over Birmingham Bears

Sean Dickson’s electrifying performance propelled Somerset to a stunning victory over the Birmingham Bears in the T20 Blast quarter-final at Taunton. His unbeaten 71 off just 26 balls, featuring five towering sixes, anchored Somerset’s chase of 191, with the team reaching the target with a ball to spare.

The Bears posted a competitive 190 for six, boosted by captain Alex Davies’ quickfire 71. However, Somerset required 19 runs off the final over. Dickson calmly navigated the tense finish, sealing the win by taking a single off the penultimate ball bowled by Ed Barnard. Tom Abell also played a crucial role earlier in the innings, contributing a solid 51 to keep Somerset in contention.

The victory secured Somerset’s fifth consecutive appearance at Finals Day and ignited jubilant celebrations among the home crowd. Meanwhile, the Birmingham Bears, vying for their first Finals Day berth since 2017, were left to rue missed opportunities.

In a separate quarter-final clash, Lancashire Lightning booked their place at Finals Day with a confident three-wicket win against Kent at Old Trafford. Liam Livingstone was the standout with an unbeaten 85 from 45 balls, guiding Lancashire to surpass Kent’s total of 153 with nine balls to spare. Earlier, Livingstone had also excelled with the ball, taking two key wickets for 21 runs.

Kent struggled to build momentum despite Zak Crawley’s composed 27 on comeback, with early losses and effective bowling from Luke Woodman (3 for 29) hampering their innings. Lancashire’s chase began shakily with the early dismissals of Phil Salt and Luke Wells, but Livingstone’s resilience ensured a steady and ultimately successful run chase.
